The enhancement program is part of a national and state AHEC Organization and Health Resources and Services Administration initiative to prepare health professionals to serve rural communities.

It consists of didactic and community-based training opportunities with a focus on internal education, behavioral health integration, social determinants of health and more.

Applications are open to students interested in rural health care who are enrolled in, and within two years of completion of, a health profession or certificate program.

The training program is scheduled to begin in October.
